Exhausted. That’s how I feel today at the end of day 4 of our mission trip with Samaritan’s Feet. Physically exhausted from a lack of sleep, shoe distribution, and running around with the kids. More so mentally exhausted as I try to decompress a lot of thoughts and emotions. This trip has been much less about shoe distribution and much more about being a friend–if only for a day or two–to children who face physical, economic, and social adversity. As several kids gave me a goodbye hug today, my heart was broken. I have been blessed so much more than I could possibly bless others during this trip.

Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.

O Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved, as to love with all my soul!
